Otto Armleder Memorial Park
With the Little Miami River running through it, Otto Armleder Memorial Park is frequented by many different birds, such as tanagers, orioles and more. Visitors may also appreciate this park for its paved paths, canoe access and a 10-acre dog park with separate areas for large dogs and smaller dogs. Birds are also the focus of several of this park’s programs and events, such as the Bird & Blooms experience with a nature interpreter or the Bird Walks on which one might search for both migratory and breeding birds per the event listing.

Spring Grove Cemetery and Arboretum
As shared at The Audubon Society of Ohio, Spring Grove Cemetery is one of the largest cemeteries in the country, a U.S. National Historic Landmark, and a hotspot for many species of birds, including several different hawks and woodpeckers, as well as vireos, warblers, sparrows, and more! Located near the University of Cincinnati, Burnet Woods is a Cincinnati park designated by the Audubon Society as an Important Birding Area. In addition to the myriad bird species to observe and other outdoor activities to enjoy, visitors may also be interested in programs at the Trailside Nature Center and the Wolff Planetarium. During the summer months, one might spend some time bird watching and then participate in an outdoor event, such as Wednesdays in the Woods, which is a free summer concert series with food trucks, lawn games and more!

Winton Woods
One of the Great Parks of Hamilton County, Winton Woods, not only offers many different trails to explore and birds to see, but also a variety of other outdoor fun, such as paddleboarding or playing disc golf. Located approximately 16 miles from Downtown Cincinnati, a recent highlight for bird watchers at this park is the opportunity to view a pair of bald eagles nesting above Winton Lake.

California Woods Nature Preserve
A Cincinnati park that’s located southeast of Downtown Cincinnati, the California Woods Nature Preserve is a great spot for seeing diverse birds and other wildlife, as well as “53 species of trees [and] more than 200 species of herbaceous plants.” From potential sightings of a great horned owl on one of the nature trails (many of which total a half mile or less) to the lively hummingbirds in the on-site garden, visitors have plenty of opportunity for bird watching at this park. While in the area, bird watchers may also want to explore the nearby Magrish Preserve, which is another Important Birding Area in the Cincinnati area.
