Awesome Summer Getaways Near Cincinnati
There's a lot going on this summer in Cincinnati, but there's even more to see when you leave the city. The summer months present the perfect opportunity to explore the rest of Ohio and surrounding states. One road trip you might want to put on your summertime itinerary is a trip along the Shawshank Trail. The self-guided tour takes guests to sites around Mansfield, Ohio where iconic scenes from The Shawshank Redemption were filmed, including the Ohio State Reformatory.
If you're looking for a more outdoorsy getaway, head to Hocking Hills State Forest in Logan, Ohio. Its stunning gorges, caves, and rushing waves make Hocking Hills State Forest a must-see in your state. Anyone who's ready for a bit of a road trip should make the 90-minute trek to Frankfort, Kentucky. Here, get a glimpse behind the scenes at Buffalo Trace Distillery, a well-known bourbon producer, and see historic artifacts (including Abraham Lincoln's watch) at the Thomas D. Clark Center for Kentucky History.
