Fort Thomas Fire Department Sporting Brand-New Equipment

The Fort Thomas Fire Department is proud to announce that it recently replaced its outdated equipment. The previous equipment met standards from 15 years ago, and it wasn't up to date with the government's current safety standards.

The fire department's new equipment now complies with the most current standards, which were set in 2013. The new SCBA (Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus) was sourced from Vogelpohl Fire Equipment in Erlanger, KY, and it offers a better fit and comfort level, a central power system with one rechargeable battery, and increased safety with real time, and on-scene monitoring of the air packs' statuses.

The new equipment cost a total of $145,275, but the fire department received an Assistance to Firefighters Grant award of $136,500. By combining this grant with the trade-in value of the old equipment, the total cost to the city was just $7,775.
