Hosting Thanksgiving in Your Apartment This Year? Read These Tips First!

Whether it's an intimate gathering or an elaborate soiree, playing host or hostess in an apartment presents unique challenges—particularly when it comes to space. Where will everyone sit? Where will you put the food? The drinks? If you're hosting Thanksgiving at your place this year, keep these tips in mind!

1) Keep it casual. Who says you need a proper dining room to host Thanksgiving? Instead of giving everyone assigned seats at the table, allow them to seat themselves throughout your apartment—even if that means taking a seat on the couch, a spare chair, or atop of comfy floor cushion. Most people appreciate the break from formality!

2) Go with a buffet. If you're short on serving space, clear off your coffee table, kitchen island, or desk in addition to your kitchen counters. Group a few surfaces together to accommodate serving dishes, utensils and plates, and beverages. We love the idea of setting up a bar cart so that guests can pour their own cocktails.

3) Don't sweat the small stuff. You could spend hours on handmade decorations and a calligraphed menu, but it's likely that your efforts will go unnoticed. Instead, simply display a few ornamental pumpkins and a vase of fall-hued flowers. Put that now-free time toward putting together an awesome music playlist.

4) Have fun. Remind yourself to breathe! After all, the holidays are all about spending time with friends and family.
