It is located to the northeast of the city center, approximately 7 miles by car from Hyde Park Square to Fountain Square in Downtown Cincinnati. The Wasson Way Trail is also available to cyclists and pedestrians for their enjoyment or as a way to travel through Hyde Park and several other neighborhoods like Oakley and Mt. Lookout. Founded over a century ago, Hyde Park is known not only for its many historic buildings but also for being very walkable with access to numerous amenities. What to See and Do in Hyde Park

  1. Visit the Cincinnati Observatory.

Home to one of the oldest working telescopes in the world, the Cincinnati Observatory is a historic facility that is often hailed as “‘The Birthplace of American Astronomy’”.  In addition to the current exhibits and available tours of the observatory, there are many other Cincinnati Observatory experiences that may be of interest, such as the special programs for kids, “Late Night Date Nights,” and educational classes.   1. Take a walking tour of some of the city’s most historic and innovative architecture.

In addition to the Wasson Way Trail or the paths at the nearby Ault Park, consider taking a walking tour through Hyde Park to see some of the city’s historic homes and other interesting structures. Whether you plan your walk in conjunction with some time at the Cincinnati Observatory or otherwise, this location can serve as one starting point for a self-guided tour of the area. The center of this location is a lovely park that is home to the Kilgour Fountain – one of Cincinnati’s many notable landmarks. Hyde Park Square is also the place to be for many community events. One event that many look forward to each year is the Hyde Park Art Show –  a free event which has taken place since 1966. If you are looking for produce, meat and other goods provided by local growers and artisans, Hyde Park Farmers’ Market operates on Sundays from May through October in Hyde Park Square. During these “Sundays on The Square,” you may even be able to enjoy some live music while you shop.
